Are All Prophetic Words Confirmation?

Many times people operate under the assumption that all prophetic words are confirmation of what they already know or are walking in. I do believe that there is or can be confirmation in a prophetic word one receives. However, to say that God does not or will not speak about things we are not aware of is to suggest that God will not speak into our future or call forth those things that are not as though they were. This is contrary to what I know about God and how He speaks to His children. Many times God will speak about us in such a way as to be contrary to what we are currently experiencing or walking in. Look at Abraham, you are a father of many nations. This was spoken to him while he was yet childless!

Romans 4:17-18
17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed — God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; 18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” NKJV

Keep in mind that God sees us and calls forth those things that are not as though they were. He calls deep unto deep! He calls forth the destiny from within us that He Himself placed there. He is so gracious and kind. I have found in my own life that as He speaks to me, I am many times surprised at what He sees in me. Again He is so gracious and believes in me. I have also found that He doesn’t always speak to the things that I thought I needed to hear at the time, but rather, He focuses my attention on what He sees as important at this time. Listen again to your prophetic words with these things in mind. What is spoken over you may also be for a future time as well. Ultimately, you are the one who must decide if what you have heard is the word of the Lord. Be careful not to be too quick to discard a word because it doesn’t make sense to you or confirm what you already know. Just some thoughts…

One Response to Are All Prophetic Words Confirmation?

  1. Sue says:

Thank you. I received my prophetic word two days ago and I was very blessed. I felt the word was accurate and when my husband listened he said, “that sounds like you.” Again, I want to thank you for the blessing of ministering to me prophetically.
